Vlad and I decided to have a very small wedding with only 6 guests! Having an intimate wedding on the Coral Sea provided the perfect experience for my husband and I who wanted a simple, beautiful, classic beach wedding. The location was accessible for a semi-elopement and was secluded enough for it to provide us with privacy. Keeping the décor white and crystal provided a beautiful contrast to the turquoise water as the backdrop.

I planned the majority of the wedding myself and the wedding coordinator was mainly responsible for the timing of events and the organization of our activities such as the helicopter flight to a private island to have a romantic picnic, and an island hopper cruise to see parts of the Great Barrier Reef.

I suggest to all future brides to try not to stress yourself out in the lead up to the wedding, it is just not worth it. Pamper yourself, relax, enjoy every moment….the nerves, the crying, and the excitement! Enjoy the rollercoaster of emotions of planning a wedding. Before you know it the day will be over as you move onto a different pathway in your life, with your husband beside you.

Keep a record of what you have paid for, and the contact details of each vendor. Also before you arrive at the destination make sure you confirm to make sure everything runs smoothly on your special day!

Our first dinner as husband and wife was in an ocean front gazebo at Coral Sea Resort, laced with fairy lights overlooking the moons reflection on the water with private meals served by an attendant. The Coral Sea is just as beautiful at night as it is in the day.

For a small wedding keep it simple, let people know the details months beforehand. Also make sure you know when you are arriving and how you are getting there. If guests have special needs let them sort out their own needs.

Sam and Jen – Chance Bay Whitsunday Island

Sam proposed to Jen whilst on a Whitsunday holiday so it seemed only fitting that the pair return to the tropical paradise for their elopement. The couple opted for a true elopement with absolutely no guests present leaving them all the time in the world to indulge in each others companies whilst in the Whitsundays.

Sheree and Michael – Peninsula Pavilion and Waterline

We both love Airlie Beach and wanted to show our guests how amazing it was. The majority of our guests were from New Zealand and had never traveled to the Whitsunday area before. They all had an absolute ball.

Alyce and Lachlan – Peppers Airlie Beach

Alyce met Lachlan when she first moved to the Whitsundays. He was a friend of the families and there was an instant connection between the two. After five years of dating and enjoying the seaside lifestyle of Airlie Beach they decided to tie the knot and living in the wedding heart of Australia is made perfect sense for them to host their wedding in their own home town!
