Brooke Ogden | Brooke Miles Photography

Brooke photographed her first wedding as an assistant photographer back in 2001 in Western Australia. After a few years travelling Australia chasing the sun she landed in Airlie Beach and fell in love with the Whitsunday’s. A few more years travelling and mastering her craft as a professional photographer she then fell in love with Airlie again, as well as the man she was to marry, an Airlie Beach local boy Ashley Ogden.

Planning her own wedding was made a lot simpler being surrounded by so many amazing suppliers right here in Airlie Beach. “It was great to be the bride for a change, and receive the royal treatment that the Whitsunday wedding industry is so renowned for.”

Brooke has won Silver and Bronze Awards at the Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPA’s) as well as being awarded the 2014 Whitsunday Tourism and Business – Non Tourism Business Award.

In addition to running a full time photography studio, Brooke also publishes a bridal magazine ‘Your Queensland Wedding’ through her other company BAM Publishing. This medium provides even further insight into the wedding industry on a national basis and she brings this knowledge and skillset to her role within weddingswhitsundays.com

Deb Savy | Tropix Photography

Debbie Savy was one of the founding members of WeddingsWhitsundays.Com.  In 2003 Debbie and her husband Shane (who were living in Sydney) decided on a destination wedding in the Whitsundays.  The following year, they relocated their family to the Whitsundays and bought Tropix Photography (the photography business that they had chosen to photograph their wedding).

It was challenging organising a wedding in the Whitsundays from out of town, they relied on a copy of the phone book and advice from friends and family in the area.  The website has been a great way to unite the wedding industry in the Whitsundays, and showcase all the talented professionals in the region.

Tropix Photography is renowned for beautiful images of the Whitsundays over the last 3 decades and Debbie is able to put people at ease immediately and gain their trust to create natural, spontaneous images, where people really look their best.

Jade Korosec | slinkylinks

Jade Korosec joined WeddingsWhitsudays.Com in 2009 whilst working as the Marketing Manager for Air Whitsunday. She was headhunted for her thorough understanding of web development and online marketing and also for her role with a company that was heavily involved in weddings, yet not the primary source of income for the company.

Jade was able to use this position with Air Whitsunday to show many other tour and transport operators in the region how beneficial the wedding industry was for third party suppliers. It also was an avenue for Jade to form strong relationships with the primary wedding suppliers in the region, forming strong partnerships that are still in place to this day.

Since joining the committee Jade has been the primary web developer and online content strategist for the not for profit organisation and continues to enjoy her role. Now freelancing as the Visual Communications Manager for the Whitsundays premier wedding venue, Villa Botanica, Jade is able to bring many of her insights from this role to the organisation.

Lauriely Taylor | Loll Doll Makeup

My name is Lauriely Taylor, I originally left New Zealand in 1998 in order to pursue my love of travelling.  I travelled throughout Canada, Europe and the Middle East.  It was in Dahab, Egypt where I learned to become a Dive Instructor.  During this period I met my future husband Rob Taylor, who was also a Dive Instructor.  After living in Dahab for nearly two years we went back to New Zealand.  Eventually we decided that we needed to find somewhere to settle down, with our love for the warm climate, scuba diving and outdoor lifestyle “Airlie Beach” became the destination of choice.  We flew into Brisbane, bought a second hand car and drove up the coast.  I have now lived in Airlie for 12 years and couldn’t think of a better place to bring up my three beautiful boys.

I have now established myself in the Wedding Industry as a Make Up Artist.  I have worked in both New Zealand and Australia and have had the good fortune to work in many of the beautiful locations that the Whitsundays have to offer.  I specialize in Wedding make up and also offer a range of Make Up Workshops, which have become a popular choice for Hens parties.  I am trained in Airbrush Make Up.  I have a strong passion for make up and the desire to make every one look and feel their best.

Sandi Holman | Peppers Airlie Beach

As a member of WW.com committee for the past 2 years, I have gained valuable insight into our local wedding industry simply by being involved with other like-minded wedding industry professionals who share my passion and dedication for all things weddings. With a long background in hospitality, my experience with weddings began back in my uni days when I waited tables at weddings and found the shear variety of ways to make a wedding reception unique fascinating. From then on I have worked in hospitality at both 5 star hotels doing weddings and events for up to 500 guests and at destination resorts on Fraser Island and here at Peppers Airlie Beach in the fabulous Whitsundays, which offer a more intimate and unique destination and experience for your big day.

Now with over 15 years of experience in wedding sales and operations, and with 5 years here at Peppers Airlie Beach, I can offer valuable advice and direction to our wedding couples to ensure we create a truly memorable experience for them and their guests.  With the luxury of having spa apartments at the resort along with both ceremony and reception venues and packages for all budgets, we offer everything you need to make your day a success right here at the resort.  With an emphasis on service, and being “All about You” is not just a Peppers brand standard, it’s a personal standard I have held for myself all throughout my career and is one of the major reasons why I find my role at Peppers Airlie Beach so enjoyable.

Debbie Smith | Whitsunday Baked Creations

I’ve always had a passion for cooking and baking.  I remember baking my first cake, a chocolate cake, at just 9 years old.

Born in Zimbabwe I relocated to the UK in 2000 with my husband.  In 2003 I had my first child.  I enjoyed my time with her on maternity and did not want to go back to work, she turned one and needed a cake to celebrate, that’s when I made my first novelty cake and I was hooked!  I started my own business from home, and then along came my son!  My UK home based company grew very rapidly and I had numerous returning clientele.  Whilst in the UK I did some courses at Squires Kitchen International  School, I learnt from some of the industry best, namely Eddie Spence MBE ,  cake maker to the Royal Family and Paddi  Clark a Sugar Flower guru.  I did an intensive week of Royal Icing with Eddie and sugar roses and flowers with Paddi as well as a few other short courses.  The rest was all self taught.

In 2009 I immigrated to Australia with my husband and children, we moved to the Whitsundays in 2011 where I started working in the industry.  I obtained my full Cert III Pastry Cook in just 12 months and set the bench mark for all future apprentices through the Brisbane based company that marked my assessments.  Towards the end of 2013  I was approached by a high end Wedding venue who wanted to utilise my services and so I decided to head out on my own again as I had in the UK.  Since then I’ve grown in leaps and bounds.  Whitsunday Baked Creations has become very well known in the Whitsundays and in the whole of Queensland as I placed 7th overall in the ABIA 2014 Queensland Bridal Industry Awards and have made the shortlist again for 2015.

I pride myself in my clean sharp work and always tasty cake. I believe that a wedding cake is a once in a life time event and should not only be a show stopper in looks but should taste incredible too!

Sharon Gregory | Coral Sea Resort Weddings

I am fortunate to have enjoyed a diverse, often demanding, yet always rewarding working career within the Wedding and Events Industry. Commencing my career on the Gold Coast, I have enjoyed the opportunity to coordinate and manage countless Weddings, each uniquely different and incredibly special.

Since relocating to Airlie Beach with my husband mid-2015, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue contributing to wonderful couples most momentous life occasion in this breathtakingly beautiful location I am fortunate to now call home. I cherish my role, and the amazing team I am grateful to work with, as we continue to exceed the expectations of our couples as they embark on their exciting journey united in life and love.

I have found that when speaking with an elderly member of society, even those whose memory may be suffering the ravages of time, when questioned, they are still able to recall every minor detail of their very special Wedding Day. In order to be successful within the Wedding Industry it is important to remember this, and truly appreciate the responsibility one is accepting when creating an event that is destined to remain as one of life’s most momentous memories that will surely last a lifetime.
