I had been looking for somewhere to go on our honeymoon when I came across the Whitsundays, we instantly feel in love with the picturesque photos of the beautiful beaches and palm trees and decided instantly that, that was the place where we wanted to get married.

We stayed for 15 days in total, we had planned to continue travelling for our honeymoon a couple of days after the wedding but we loved it so much that in the end we stayed put in Airlie beach and just did day trips. We spent a couple of days at Hamilton Island, enjoyed a Whitsundays Jetski Tour to Daydream Island, spent the day with the barefooted bushman (Rob Bredl), went on a crocodile tour through Whitsundays crocodile safari, visited Bowen and the big Mango where we had the best mango sorbet ever, completed a few bush walks along the many tracks, enjoyed some great nights and met great people at Magnums, visited numerous beautiful beaches and had the most amazing dinner at one of the most beautiful places ever at Montes Restaurant in Hideaway Bay where you dine right on the beach, the sunset was stunning.

As for the style of our wedding, we just wanted simple, beautiful, soft, romantic with a hint of vintage. I really wanted a vintage broach bouquet so I made my own and it was perfect.

The best advice I can give to other brides and grooms is to enjoy the whole experience, not just the wedding but the preparation and the lead up. Don’t stress yourself out, it’s supposed to be one of the most important days of your life and you want the memories of the whole experience to be positive. Make sure your wedding is what you and your future husband wants it to be not what others want as after all it is about the two of you so add aspects of your own personality. The day is over so very quickly and whatever will be will be so make the most of it.

We had an unfortunate cancellation of our original venue 8 weeks before our wedding was due to go ahead, we quickly went into a bit of a panic then began ringing around to find out our options, the best decision we ever made was to call the Whitsunday Sailing Club. Jason the head chef and Sam the manager were absolutely amazing. Both Jason and Sam assured us they would help us and they managed to set our mind completely at ease that they would be able to provide us with the most amazing wedding. They effectively became our wedding planners to some extent. With the help of I Do Events they transformed the underneath of the sailing club into the most magical, romantically beautiful venue ever. Our guests still rave not only about the most amazing food but the impeccable service that was provided by Jason, Sam and their team. We are eternally grateful to both Sam and Jason and truly believe that the cancellation of our first venue was a blessing in disguise, the Sailing Club venue in the end turned out to be a far better venue then the original one we had booked.

Every one of our suppliers from Brooke Mile Photography, I Do Events Whitsundays, Wedding Cakes Whitsundays, Lauriely from Loll Doll Make Up, Sarah from Bridal hair Whitsundays and Sam and Jason from the Whitsunday Sailing Club made every aspect of our day perfect.

Yelly and Ben – Whitehaven Beach

If you are thinking about eloping. Stop. Don’t think about it, just do it. Eloping was the best thing we ever did. It gave us the opportunity to experience a hassle free day, in a location that was perfect for us. All we had to focus on was marrying each other (while Total Weddings took care of the rest)…

Amy and Adam – Hamilton Island

Featuring hints of mint and pops of pink the colour scheme created a youthful and playful feel to the day and was the perfect accompaniment to the tropical islands backdrop of lush green gardens and azure sea.

Jo and Tony – Whitehaven Beach and Coral Sea Resort

We chose the Whitsundays because it was a midpoint for all our family and friends who were coming from New Zealand, Queensland, Western Australia and America. We had visited the Whitsundays a year earlier and fell in love with it.
