We both love Airlie beach and wanted to show our guests how amazing it was – the majority of our guests are from NZ and had never travelled to the Whitsunday area before. They all had an absolute ball. We stayed for just over a week, and honeymooned for a few nights on Hamilton Island directly after our wedding.

We hosted a cocktail style wedding, we hadn’t been to one before but liked the idea of everyone being able to mix and mingle all night – the canapés were delicious and it all worked so well.

What’s your best advice for other brides / grooms?
Take a minute to take in the moment and enjoy the day because its all over and done with before you know it. Also to use a wedding planner – Jess and the team were amazing and made it very stress free.

What was the best thing about having a destination wedding?
Having an Airlie Beach wedding was great as the town is small and easy to get around. Also it was easy to find accommodation to suit all of our guests budgets, and you can never go wrong with a view like you get at Airlie Beach.

A massive thanks to all of our suppliers but especially Jess Bruce from the Wedding planners Whitsundays – she was absolutely amazing and made everything so easy. Jess Stafford – our celebrant, we had a lot of compliments on how amazing the service was, Brooke – Brooke Miles Photography, we absolutely love our Airlie Beach wedding photos and couldn’t have asked for anything more, she was relaxed throughout the whole day and let us be us and captured it perfectly and Tana Fatu our Musician – he was amazing and just what we were hoping for. I would highly recommend any one of our suppliers to everyone.

Mel and Jay – Whitehaven Beach and Coral Sea Resort

After looking at local options, as opposed to heading back to Geelong, Victoria to be closer to extended family and friends and considering many options in between, we chose to stay close and keep it simple.

Kate and Tor – Long Island Resort

We had a very small wedding and our close family and friends travelled from Western Australia over to the beautiful Long Island, so it was important for us to be able to spend precious time with everyone before our ceremony and know that everything was taken care of. Diana’s knowledge of weddings meant that she was able to translate our vision.

SJ and David – Whitehaven Beach and Hamilton Island

Our plans for the wedding had to evolve almost over night. Before we left for Australia we had seen Cyclone Debbie forming and a few friends asked if that would effect us? I was sure that it would be long gone and everything would be cleaned up in a day or two. Little did I know the ferocity of the cyclone come landfall.
