This month marks the two year wedding anniversary for Sharon and Wayne who said “i do” at Villa Botanica. The couple fell so head over heels in love with the Whitsundays during their wedding week that they packed up their life and relocated to the Whitsundays shortly after. The dynamic duo are now happily living and working in the Whitsundays with their two beautiful sons. We loved Sharon’s unique sense of style on the day and her elegant wedding reception styling has become one of the most iconic images used by Villa Botanica.

When it came to the perfect wedding Sharon felt that Villa Botanica was a location that would best represent the vision she held for her day.

We just love tropical Asian inspired things and Villa ticked all the boxes, right from the 26 (I think) shipping containers full of Balinese furniture to the beautiful rainforest. And seriously how can you go past those beautiful Indian hand carved elephant doors at the venue entrance surrounded by a candle lit lily pond. It was just magic! There is no real need for a theme at Villa as its raw beauty is more than enough alone. The gardens and little surprise features hidden in every direction are like a ribbon that continually unravels along the journey you take.

The Event Company Whitsundays assisted the couple in creating a bold and beautiful scene for the ceremony, with black fitted chairs covers wrapped in white tulle and beautiful dendrobium orchids placed through them. “It was just sensational!” says Sharon. Clair and Zoe from The Event Company Whitsundays had the best ideas to give us the effect we were looking for, they were so helpful and went above and beyond the call of duty to make everything perfect. They set up this gorgeous lolly buffet for our guests that enticed them from the second they seen it; a fun little extra that we couldn’t go past. The Flower Hut did an amazing job with our flowers, we had classic roses in a blend of coffee, white and a pale pink to match my dress, they nailed it on the colour and it was a perfect match.

When asked what advice she would offer other couples, Sharon said

You only get one day so make it the best you can, so spoil yourselves and do it great because memories are the only things you can hold onto forever. If there is that one special day you get to share with family and friends its your wedding day, so if there is one day to do everything you’ve always wanted well this is it. It was so important to us to make our guests feel comfortable and for them to have fun. At Villa Botanica they got picked up, waited on, children looked after and then all dropped off back to their accommodation at the end of the night – you can’t really ask for much more than that. The day was not only just all about us but we wanted them to have moments about them as well, so they could create great memories and talk for years about the time they went to Wayne and Sharon’s wedding. We wanted a destination wedding so everyone could have a holiday and be in that carefree holiday mode!

The best decision they made when planning the big day? “You really don’t realise how much there is to organise till you get closer to the day and I think I would have killed over with stress if we had to do it all ourselves, so picking Villa Botanica was a great choice. This brings up to our perfect opportunity to thank the beautiful Tanya Watts! We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding coordinator, she went through everything with a fine tooth comb to make sure every little detail was perfect, she was so patient and nothing was ever too hard for her. The day before the wedding I had a slight freak out, nerves got to me and I rang her at 6.45am in a bit of a state… Can you believe she actually rang me back straight away (probably after waking up first) and calmed me right down! We found a great friend in Tanya and she is the best out there when it comes to organisation and compassion. The other advice I would say is to pick Norina from Iconic Bride Photography, the proof is in the photos – she is incredibly talented, and super passionate about capturing what you want. We could go on about her forever and still couldn’t praise her enough. You end up spending a lot of time with your photographer on your day and she made it so much fun, we honestly made the best decision with Norina, no doubt about it!”

Kaylee and Joel – Peninsula and Waterline On Shingley

For our wedding, we wanted somewhere near the beach with a fun, causal and loving atmosphere. We started looking overseas, but the logistics seemed too hard. Also we took into consideration the travel for some our guests.

Nicole and Luke – Daydream Island

We chose to have a small, intimate, outdoor wedding. We always wanted a beachy, laid back wedding and thought where else but the Whitsundays! Daydream was recommended by so many websites and looked perfect for us, so we booked it. Finally our special day came around.

Kerri and Ray – Whitehaven Beach and Peppers Airlie Beach

We wanted a beach wedding and after doing some research on the internet we came across The Wedding Planners Whitsundays website and found the Elope Perfectly package. We had never been to the Whitsundays before so knew it was for us.
