Living so close to the Whitsundays and being totally in love with Hamilton Island there really was no other choice for us for our Whitsunday wedding.

Hamilton Island is our favourite destination for holidays with great service, happy people and beautiful weather so we try to make it here as often as we can, so it seemed only fitting that we held our wedding there.

For the duration of our Whitsunday wedding week we were at Hamilton Island for a total of 6 days, 5 nights. We got the opportunity to enjoy the pool bar after the wedding and a lot of our guests were able to go snorkelling, go-karting, mini golf and sea kayaking, others went out to see the Great Barrier Reef and Whitehaven beach. In previous trips we have done parasailing and boat trip to Whitehaven beach.

Our ceremony was on Catseye Beach and our reception at The Outrigger so we had a beach theme wedding with a glamour feel that included chandeliers and candles, We wanted the wedding to be as personal and as fun as possible so to go the little extra effort was well worth it. We had a photo booth and brought many props that proved to be a hit, we had a personalised Mr & Mrs sign on our table.

Our advice to future wedding couples is to discuss what you both want your wedding to be. Do your research on the things you want and if you can do small things yourself. Be well planned in advance and don’t stress yourself out on the small stuff! But most of all enjoy your big day with your partner and your closest family and friends.

Having a destination wedding was amazing for us as we were able to have the wedding we dreamed of and all of our guests were able to make the most of the Whitsundays and make a holiday out of it. Just make sure you give your guests as much notice as you possibly can so they can save up and have the chance to make it an amazing holiday and celebration.

For our honeymoon we decided to do something different to our usual holiday and road trip up towards Cairns as neither of us had ever been there before and make our way up to Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas for a week.

The team at Hamilton Island Weddings were amazing, we couldn’t recommend Erin more strongly and Hamilton Island is an incredible place to have such a special occasion and somewhere you can always look back on or travel back to on your golden anniversary.

Laura + Ashleigh – Engagement Shoot

Usually on an engagement shoot the photographer remains hidden ready to capture the moment in complete surprise. However Laura and Ash were models for Fancy Photos a year ago and so together Laura and Vanessa decided that a photo shoot to promote a new product would be the best way to disguise the proposal and capture some incredible images.

Qiret and Alex – Peninsula, Whitehaven Beach and Peppers Pavilion

We wanted a simple but beautiful wedding as the natural backdrop is stunning so we didn’t need to go overboard! I chose coral, gold and ivory as the colour which complimented the turquoise sea and white sand. The reception was decorated with fairy lights, flowers and bunting with sweet soul music playing in the background, it was perfect! :

Leah and Ritchie – Coral Sea Resort

The style of the wedding was boho chic, I really wanted an organic theme to blend in with the natural surroundings as the Coral Sea Resort is so beautiful you really don’t need to do too much.
