Your Love Story…

After 10 years of being together and having the usual ups and downs in a relationship, Reuban being the thoughtful person he is, asked me if we should both choose an engagement ring rather than him going out getting a ring which he admits would have been too big and not very pretty. After long hours spent finding the perfect ring, we went home and upon entering the front door Reuban pulled the ring out and asked “you want to get married?” I sat down, took a quick breath shed a tear and replied “yes”. Not your most romantic proposal but it didn’t matter as we both knew we had many of years ahead of us to be romantic.

Wedding Day Vision…

As we both love black, white and gold – we thought it appropriate to work our wedding day around this, keeping it simple and concentrating more on our guests, rather than a theme – also as Villa Botanica speaks for itself – you don’t need to add much, as it is spectacular.

Brides Memorable Moment…

We had decided from the beginning that we wanted to get ready together with a couple of our close family members. So spending the whole day together, getting dressed together, Reuban having to help get me into my wedding dress and then walking down the aisle to have Reuban’s calming face looking back at me.

Grooms Memorable Moment…

The most memorable moment for me was not only seeing how beautiful Rhiannon looked as she walked down the aisle but seeing all our family and friends seeing her for the first time that day. Little whispers of how lovely Rhiannon looked as well as tissues wiping away tears, smiles and open displays of affection for both myself and Rhiannon.

Whitsunday Wedding Week…

The best part of hosting a destination wedding was definitely spending time with family and friends during the week before the wedding day, as we had not seen a lot of them for a number of years.

Having this time made the wedding day feel more relaxed, talking, laughing and enjoying the day with them rather than having the pressure of trying to catch up with everyone in such a limited amount of time, it made our wedding day feel more special than it already was.

Whitsunday Wedding…

Two years prior to our wedding we attended a wedding in Bali that was perfect in every way. We then decided that we wanted our wedding in Bali too. However having to travel and co-ordinate a wedding in Bali takes a lot of time and patience. After a year of struggling with the correspondence, we decided to have our wedding at Villa Botanica – which we’d seen online several times and loved. They provided a wedding planner, which made life a lot easier (which is something I said to myself, I would never use) – through a few phone calls and ticks in boxes it made the lead up to the wedding very manageable.

Brides Wisdom…

After 17 years of being together what we thought we wanted our wedding day to be like (in our 20’s) changed drastically to how we wanted our wedding day to be when we actually got married (in our late 30’s). The most important thing to us, was having people we wanted at our wedding rather than people we felt obliged to have at our wedding. If your guests are traveling from overseas, make sure that they get their flights booked at least 3 to 6 months out from the wedding. Don’t stress too much about the seating plans as they’ll change multiple times throughout the planning. Enjoy the day as it really is all over in the blink of an eye.

Destination Wedding Advice…

Get your guests to travel to the Whitsundays a week before and leave a week after to catch-up and enjoy the time together.

Alyce and Lachlan – Peppers Airlie Beach

Alyce met Lachlan when she first moved to the Whitsundays. He was a friend of the families and there was an instant connection between the two. After five years of dating and enjoying the seaside lifestyle of Airlie Beach they decided to tie the knot and living in the wedding heart of Australia is made perfect sense for them to host their wedding in their own home town!

Amy and Ryland – Villa Botanica

Amy and Ryland had not visited the Whitsundays prior to their wedding day so it made perfect sense for them to stay a little longer and enjoy all that the Whitsundays has to offer. The events kicked off two days before the wedding day with an icebreaker dinner at Port Of Airlie.

Naomi and Shane – Whitehaven Beach Elopement

This gorgeous little family of three decided that Airlie Beach was the perfect destination to celebrate their wedding. Opting for an elopement to Whitehaven Beach via Seaplane meant that they were able to save thousands on their day, yet still have a truly magical wedding experience in the Whitsundays.
