Why the Whitsundays…

We chose the Whitsundays as Chris and I both love the coast! We are both from Queensland and when we decided to elope, the Whitsundays was the first place to come to mind as our dream destination.

Who wouldn’t want to elope to the beautiful Whitsundays!

Wedding Week…

We had only a short amount of time to take off – as absolutely no one had any idea what we had planned. We snuck off for a weekend away, arrived in Airlie Beach on the Friday, married on the Saturday and returned home to our surprised families on the Monday!

Wedding Day Vision…

Chris are both very easy going, so when it came to styling it was pretty simple – with a background like the Whitsundays I don’t think there is much you need! My dress was a simple strapless style with a slight fishtail fitting.

For my bouquet I wanted it to resemble something messy and not at all intentionally placed, a cascading styles with all white and green. Flower Hut literally read my mind as it couldn’t have been more perfect!

I used an an old jeweled head piece that was placed in the back of my hair with babies breath, styled perfectly by the wonderfully creative Luisa from Whitsunday Wedding Hair Lounge.

Destination Wedding…

Having had planned for a moderately big wedding here in Townsville we had such a stressful time planning and organising a day that really neither of us wanted!

The thing that meant most to us was that we were about become husband and wife. There shouldn’t be a huge price tag nor a checklist for planning – we both believed it was about a commitment to each other without the stress of anything else.

The best thing about our destination wedding was driving down to Airlie Beach so excited with absolutely no stress or worry at all. Being able to trust Roxanne from The Wedding Planners Whitsundays with our wedding was absolutely bliss, she took care of everything! It gave us our day- stress free and exactly how we wanted it!

Sam and Jen – Chance Bay Whitsunday Island

Sam proposed to Jen whilst on a Whitsunday holiday so it seemed only fitting that the pair return to the tropical paradise for their elopement. The couple opted for a true elopement with absolutely no guests present leaving them all the time in the world to indulge in each others companies whilst in the Whitsundays.

Whitsunday Wedding on Hamilton Island

Stuart and Emily – Hamilton Island

We wanted a really classy formal wedding being a black tie event, there were no colour themes other then whites and creams and lots of greenery at the reception. All of the bridesmaids outfits were ivory, the flower arrangements all creams and whites with lots of greenery for the bridal table.

Mel and Jay – Whitehaven Beach and Coral Sea Resort

After looking at local options, as opposed to heading back to Geelong, Victoria to be closer to extended family and friends and considering many options in between, we chose to stay close and keep it simple.
