Why the Whitsundays…

We have both travelled extensively throughout Australia, Europe, Greek Islands, America, Canada, Asia and there is nowhere more beautiful than the Whitsundays! That’s why we decided to have our wedding on Hamilton Island. The wedding was in fact the fifth time I had visited Hamilton Island.

Wedding Week…

Mitch and I arrived on Hamilton Island a few days before the wedding. 80 out of our 85 guests arrived on Hamilton Island before the wedding, on the Thursday to celebrate with us. We held a pre-wedding dinner party at Sails on Hamilton Island to welcome all our friends and family to the Island and thank them for coming! It was a great way to really spend more time with everyone and got everyone to mingle before the big day on Saturday. On Friday before the wedding I enjoyed a 4 hour pamper day with my bridesmaids at the beautiful Wumurdaylin Spa – First class treatment!! I felt so relaxed before our big day!

Our wedding was on the Saturday and most of guest travelled home the following day, Sunday. Mitch and I stayed on Hamilton Island for another week enjoying day trips to the reef, snorkelling, scuba diving and seeing a few beautiful whales along the way. We went to Whiteheaven Beach which was a highlight for me – absolutely breathtaking!

We ate, we drank (We drank a lot lol ), we danced, we relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed every moment! I definitely recommend a destination wedding because not only did we get married on a beautiful island but we had from Thursday to Sunday with our loved ones to celebrate, we created memories that will last a lifetime.

We ate at all the fine restaurants on Hamilton Island, my favourite was Romanos Italian Restaurant! Our stay on Hamilton Island from touch down to take off was absolutely amazing!

Your Vision…

We wanted our wedding to be beautiful and glamorous but not too over the top either. We went for an all white wedding and themed the pre wedding dinner and wedding day as elegant and classy.

The amazing girls at I Do Events helped us bring our ideas to life and the style of our wedding was gorgeous. We had beautiful white lillies and roses at both the ceremony and reception. One Tree Hill, the view from our ceremony was a stunning back drop. The Yacht Club Hamilton Island was a perfect reception venue overlooking the marina and ocean. All of our guests commented on how good the food served at our reception was – it was delicious!

Our reception centrepieces were mirror based with candles and vases full of white roses, a modern approach to a timeless style.

Bride’s Wisdom…

Don’t stress!! Everyone kept commenting how laid back, relaxed and happy I was during the lead up to our wedding and on the big day. The most important thing to me from the get go was how incredibly lucky I was that Mitch had asked me to be his wife and that I was marrying and spending the rest of my life with the love of my life. That’s all that matters!

I think a lot of people get caught up in it all and forget what’s really important – your marrying each other so just enjoy every second of the whole experience because it goes quickly!

Qiret and Alex – Peninsula, Whitehaven Beach and Peppers Pavilion

We wanted a simple but beautiful wedding as the natural backdrop is stunning so we didn’t need to go overboard! I chose coral, gold and ivory as the colour which complimented the turquoise sea and white sand. The reception was decorated with fairy lights, flowers and bunting with sweet soul music playing in the background, it was perfect! :

Betty and Sam – Whitsunday Pavilion + Whitsunday Sailing Club

I never really thought about Weddings until Sam proposed. I guess I never really thought about marriage either until I met Sam. We never wanted a big Wedding but we did want a special day to express our love and commitment to each other.

Victorita and Jarred – Whitehaven Beach and Whitsunday Pavilion

This gorgeous young couple wanted to escape to the most beautiful seaside location and experience a barefoot wedding by the ocean. It was only natural that they ended up becoming newlyweds in the coastal town of Airlie Beach.
