We chose the Whitsundays as our wedding locations as it is where we lived and the start of our relationship. It such a beautiful place and we love it and miss it so we decided to go back to get married.

We stayed for about 2 weeks. Before the wedding we just relaxed and met with everyone we needed to, then after the wedding we had a couples spa day at the Endota Spa at Peppers Airlie Beach, sailed with Whitsunday Getaways for 2 days, did a helicopter flight to the Great Barrier Reef with Helitaxi and also went on a Jet Ski Tour to Daydream Island with Whitsunday Jetski.

We never really had a particular theme or style, we just wanted something neutral and simple as the location was beautiful enough. We decided to go with white, burlap and have a pop of yellow. You could say it turned into a rustic theme with the arbor and table decorations.

My advice to other bride and grooms, especially ones that are finding the whole wedding planning a daunting task, go with a destination wedding and have someone else plan it all for you! It takes the stress out of it all and they are good at what they do! You still decide on all the fun parts like themes, colour and decorations, but you don’t have to deal with the stress and organization of all the not so fun parts. I cannot recommend it enough! Also go for a smaller wedding, invite the closest most important people, that way you are able to splurge on a bit of luxury! It’s your day, do what makes you happy!

Our honeymoon was two days on Whitsunday Getaways Catamaran with Phil and Deb sailing around the Whitsundays. We went to Hill inlet, Whitehaven Beach, snorkeling and stand up paddle boarding. Such a relaxing two days and they were really friendly and professional.

I could not have had a more perfect day. Everyone that was involved in helping create our special day, their services were 10 out of 10. I could not fault anything from it! It was all much better than I could have ever expected! Was sad it had to come to an end!

Mel and Jay – Whitehaven Beach and Coral Sea Resort

After looking at local options, as opposed to heading back to Geelong, Victoria to be closer to extended family and friends and considering many options in between, we chose to stay close and keep it simple.

Jess and David – Peppers Airlie Beach

I have never been the type of girl to picture myself having a huge Church wedding. We had been engaged for quite a while with no plans in sight, so one day I Googled “destination wedding Australia” and Airlie Beach popped up. I’m so glad that it did! My husband and I got our immediate family together.
