Hollee and Ben didn’t have to travel far for their destination wedding. Residing in Mackay, just 150km south of Airlie Beach the couple were well aware of the Villa Botanica estate and all it had to offer to them and their guests.

All of our guests were so excited to be invited to our wedding as it was a chance to finally see the Villa Botanica estate they had heard so much about and also get away for the weekend and have a short break for themselves. We chose the Whitsundays as it is such an idyllic location not only for ourselves to enjoy over the wedding, but to treat our guests to as well.”

Why did you choose a destination wedding?
Such an idyllic location for ourselves and guests that attend.

Why did you select the destination and venue you did?
We loved Villa Botanica, not only for the amazing location though for the convenience and expertise of the professional wedding coordinator.

Did you have guests attend, and if so, what was their reaction to you choosing a destination wedding?
All of our guests were so excited to come to our wedding not only for seeing Villa Botanica but to get away for the weekend and to have a mini holiday for themselves.

What is your favourite memory of the day?
When I saw Ben as I walked down the aisle, I was able to take in the emotion of the moment. To see his happiness and love toward me was incredibly memorable.

What theme or style did you base your wedding decorations or decor on?
Classic theme, white and fresh.

How did your wedding coordinator assist you?
I could not have asked for a better coordinator. Gemma and the team at Villa don’t miss out on any detail from when you first start planning your wedding to the end of the wedding night. Gemma made our wedding stress free and enjoyable to organise, I would not have it any other way.

What was the best thing about having a destination wedding?
Getting away with our friends and family, for everyone to have a holiday together.

What is your best piece of advice for a couple planning their own destination wedding?
We would recommend to start planning your wedding well in advance to relieve any potential stressful situations. Definitely utilise a wedding planner or checklist so nothing is left when you head off to start the celebrations.

Villa Botanica was the only choice for us as we wanted the convenience and expertise of the professional wedding coordinators that Villa Botanica employs. I could not have asked for a better coordinator. Gemma and the team at Villa don’t miss out on any detail from when you first start planning your wedding to the end of the wedding night. Gemma made our wedding stress free and enjoyable to organise, I would not have it any other way.”

Maddison and Chris – Headland Park

Having had originally planned for a moderately big wedding in Townsville, Maddison and Chris realised that they had embarked on a wedding journey that neither of them really wanted.

Yelly and Ben – Whitehaven Beach

If you are thinking about eloping. Stop. Don’t think about it, just do it. Eloping was the best thing we ever did. It gave us the opportunity to experience a hassle free day, in a location that was perfect for us. All we had to focus on was marrying each other (while Total Weddings took care of the rest)…

Qiret and Alex – Peninsula, Whitehaven Beach and Peppers Pavilion

We wanted a simple but beautiful wedding as the natural backdrop is stunning so we didn’t need to go overboard! I chose coral, gold and ivory as the colour which complimented the turquoise sea and white sand. The reception was decorated with fairy lights, flowers and bunting with sweet soul music playing in the background, it was perfect! :
