We love to holiday in Airlie Beach and have always enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and picturesque setting. We wanted a destination wedding and the Whitsundays holds some of our favourite holiday memories so we knew it would be perfect.

We stayed for a week prior to the wedding and a few days after. In the lead up to our big day we spent time catching up with friends and family at the local bars, and swimming by the lagoon. Glen and the groomsmen spent some time at the golf course and the bridesmaids and I pampered ourselves at the local beauty salons. The days after the wedding were spent lounging by the Coral Sea Resort pool.

Our theme was ‘Simple Elegance’. Everything was mainly classic white. I chose to not incorporate too much colour to keep it simple. I chose to not have a veil and keep my dress simple to match the relaxed beach theme. Glen and the boys went for a different style with their attire by not wearing a full suit instead going for suspenders with a personal touch of Nike shoes.

Everyone was on holidays together, which meant you could shut off from work life and any stress and really enjoy time with the people there and the beautiful atmosphere that Airlie Beach has to offer,

Glen had his bucks a few weeks prior to the wedding. He and his friends hired a bus to Cairns and had many adventures along the way. I had my hens a few days before the wedding in Airlie Beach. We played some games at Coral Sea Resort with some surprise entertainment and then made our way to the local clubs.

We saved on transport because the reception and ceremony were at the same place and photos were just around the corner. We splurged on the bar tab and entertainment by hiring a band and photo booth because it was important for us to make sure people had a fun time.

We had seen pictures of previous weddings at the Coral Sea Resort and fell in love with the backdrop where the ceremony is held. We wanted to be married by the water and it was perfect.

Kay and Steve – Whitsunday Elopement

Kay was the perfect epitome of a beach side wedding babe. A knee length tulle skirt and matching light lace cropped top combined with jewel footwear ensured that she was not only comfortable in the tropical climate but created the perfect silhouette for her photos on Whitehaven Beach.
