Why the Whitsundays?

We both wanted somewhere in Australia and it was the first place that we both thought of. Beautiful location, warm weather and The Great Barrier Reef. It was our first time visiting the Whitsundays together. I had never been there before but always wanted to go and Josh went as a child and always wanted to go back.

Wedding Week…

We were there for 2 weeks and it was amazing, we just loved every bit of it! We went on an Ocean Rafting tour which took us to Whitehaven beach for lunch and did a guided hike up to the lookout and snorkeling. We also went to the Great Barrier Reef for a day trip and got to go on the submarine, the most beautiful snorkeling we have ever experienced and Josh went on a guided scuba diving experience whilst I got a massage on the top deck!

Endless blue sky, crystal clear water, pure bliss. We went paddle boarding for an afternoon and then dinner and drinks at Magnums before British India played. Best night.

Wedding Day Vision…

We both love simple, soft and beautiful. My dress was from Elle Zeitoune, I had my belt custom made from a lovely woman I met at the olive tree markets in Newcastle FIG Design unique Jewellery. The earrings I wore were pearl. We just wanted everything to be timeless, something we could look back at in 20 years and still love.

My bouquet was unbelievable, that florist is worth more money! I told her what I liked and emailed her photos and she delivered beyond my expectations and they lasted for our entire stay! Josh wore a Navy Suit with a pink tie both from gentlemen outfitters in newcastle with black leather shoes.

Destination Wedding…

Aside from the beautiful location and a built in honeymoon, Jess made everything so easy. She was so organised and knew everything.

We are from Newcastle, so having that support up there was crucial, we really needed to trust someone to take care of everything up there for us.

The accommodation, my hair and makeup, transport. Even the little things like bringing us food and drinks on the day. The recommendations for everything to suit our style and budget. The food and lifestyle In Airlie beach was unreal, so laid back and fun. And the food! AMAZING! The hot rock dinner at The Village Café and Restaurant is still one of the best meals we have ever had. We will definitely be going back up for a holiday!

Hens and Bucks?…

Our wedding was a complete secret! No one knew. So no hens or bucks night. We celebrated when we got home with our family and friends.

Splurge VS Save

We splurged on our accommodation at pinnacles, getting the ceremony recorded with an additional highlights video and extra time with Deb our photographer and the tours. We wanted to enjoy everything and be able to come home and relive it. So worth it.

The savings were definitely in using The Wedding Planners Whitsundays as Jess was able to get us in touch with local businesses that they use and knew they would take care of us. And of course the reception, the only guests were Josh and I so we saved thousands.

Sam and Jen – Chance Bay Whitsunday Island

Sam proposed to Jen whilst on a Whitsunday holiday so it seemed only fitting that the pair return to the tropical paradise for their elopement. The couple opted for a true elopement with absolutely no guests present leaving them all the time in the world to indulge in each others companies whilst in the Whitsundays.

Whitsunday Wedding at Coral Sea Resort

Angela and Richard – Coral Sea Resort

When Richard and I got married we wanted somewhere a little bit different. With guests coming all the way from South Africa and New Zealand, we also wanted to give them a great experience of Australia. With the Great Barrier Reef on its doorstep, warm climate all year round and ability to cater to all budgets Airlie Beach was the perfect choice.

SJ and David – Whitehaven Beach and Hamilton Island

Our plans for the wedding had to evolve almost over night. Before we left for Australia we had seen Cyclone Debbie forming and a few friends asked if that would effect us? I was sure that it would be long gone and everything would be cleaned up in a day or two. Little did I know the ferocity of the cyclone come landfall.
